Nearly every chance he gets, if Baske ToBeTrue is painting, he’s painting the word “Baske”. He is the embodiment of a graffiti artist: honing his talent through the diligent repetition of his own name - the only word that can express one’s identity. Perhaps to the outside world it appears to be a battle of egos: your outer versus inner self, but upon closer inspection, it’s quite the contrary: success is moving beyond the ego. However, not everyone who sees the drawings will notice, especially those engulfed in their own interiority.
Baske, however, is free. This does not necessarily mean that one must reject trends to be authentic, but following the masses does make it is easier to lose sight of the authentic self. The rules of the game will only be obeyed if one cannot create their own. And for Baske, Hip hop, Graffiti, Street Art, Modernity are the concepts that promote friction against the dominant order of things.
