MERCI Campaign

France 2020

On the initiative of SNCF Gares & Connexions and under the artistic direction signed by Quai 36 with the artist-illustrator Mathieu Persan, the artistic campaign THANK YOU, supported by the French Government, is visible all summer 2020 in 1,000 French stations.

As a tribute to all those who have enabled France to maintain a balance during the unprecedented period of confinement and who are still continuing their tremendous work today, SNCF Gares & Connexions has joined forces with Quai 36 to invite the illustrator Mathieu Persan to design the national THANK YOU campaign.

Self-taught illustrator with a passion for the graphic world from the 1930s to the 1960s, Mathieu Persan designed this illustration around the allegory of balance, taking up the symbolic shape of the triangle, each corner being held by a thread and a hand, to highlight the idea of interdependence and the need for these invisible hands, whom supported and cultivated this stability and without which it would not be assured: if one thread lets go, all let go.

"Thank you to all those invisible hands, to all those ties that have not been broken, to all those who have kept us balanced and who have kept us from losing the threads of our lives."

Declined in four colors, this illustration campaign now adorns 1,000 French stations, including the canopies of the Gare du Nord and Strasbourg stations, and is visible all summer until September 2020.
