Matth Velvet
The French artist Matth Velvet began painting walls in the early 2000s in western France. The Atlantic Ocean, maritime life and port spaces permeate his first artistic research.
Passionate draftsman, he naturally turns to applied arts, and practices in parallel graffiti. He gradually left aerosol paint for acrylic and oil paint, which allowed him a greater mastery of colors and their interaction. The objects and constructions he paints allow him to evoke human behavior.
In his subjects, Matth Velvet combines his memories and personal history with a rigorous observation of his surroundings to create a world that is both dreamlike and pragmatic. His painting always has a narrative dimension that leaves the viewer free to interpret.
Author of numerous large-scale murals and exhibitions in France and abroad, he now lives and works in Bordeaux.
