Le Creusot

Le Creusot 2023

The City of Le Creusot has enlisted the services of the art production house Quai 36 to create an open-air art trail. This painted tribute aligns with the municipality's commitment to fostering art in public spaces. Four artists have brought their abstract and botanical worlds to the facades of Le Creusot, celebrating the city's natural and industrial heritage.

PASTEL, LOREM IPSUM

Pastel adorns the walls of the Porte de l'Escalier with blooming regional plants: thistle, arnica, wild carnation, and orchid. This floral painting breathes new life into the iconic building of Le Creusot. The emergence of vegetation on this structure, between the forest and the city, sparks a dialogue about our relationship with nature. Creusot residents can enjoy the beauty of these flowering plants throughout the seasons.

NELIO, 2303311702

Nelio offers an artwork that seamlessly integrates with its environment. It embodies both the density of the surrounding nature and the urban character of Le Creusot. This original composition in two parts creates two interconnected panels. With its green tones, the lower part resonates with the surrounding nature, while the upper part illustrates a sunny sky with luminous hues. The abstract artwork transports the viewer through a multitude of interpretations and perceptions.

AGRUME, L'ENVOL DU CHARDONNERET

Agrume creates an artwork along the facade of the Charles de Gaulle school. As a metaphor for the school environment, this artwork depicts the goldfinch bird in flight, symbolizing a scene of learning that marks the transition to adulthood. The bird taking flight refers to the pivotal years of education and underscores the importance of school in shaping individuals' futures. The goldfinch is also a bird facing extinction in Burgundy and France. This artwork can serve as a starting point for a dialogue with children to raise awareness about environmental protection.

BLO, PRISMA

Blo has conceived their creation on the stairs of Traversière Street as a chromatic cascade that residents of Le Creusot can contemplate from the base of the stairs. Progressing from cool to warm tones, the gradient takes the form of ellipses that break away from the typical architecture of the urban environment. As the viewer ascends, they are transported into a graphic and poetic imaginary realm. The risers become a true spatial marker in the city.
