Our latest Netflix favorites is a 4-part mini-series based on the true story of a young woman from New York's Hasidic Jewish community who fled her native Williamsburg to Berlin.

Adapted from Deborah Feldman's autobiography Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots, this series is a unique testimony and an infinite source of information. The character of Esty (Esther) is overwhelming and brilliantly portrayed by Israeli actress Shira Haas. We recommend you the twenty-minute documentary Making Unorthodox, a documentary unveiling the series' behind-the-scenes footage.

The Deer Hunter, Michael Cimino, 1978

It's 1968 in Clairton, Pennsylvania. The story opens on a classique wedding scene in which an American proletarian, from Russian immigration, dances and drinks : a bliss that seems complete.
A drop of wine falls on the bride's dress, a bad omen which will embark Steven (John Savage) and his two friends (Robert De Niro and Christopher Walken) in the heart of the Vietnam War. The party is over.
Oscar for best screenplay and Oscar for best film 1979.

Competition of the stay-at-home short film, Mk2 & Trois Couleurs

For the most creative and inspired amongst you : Mk2 & Trois Couleurs (them again) are launching their stay-at-home short film competition. The conditions of realization must of course respect the rules of confinement : filming in a confined space. The prizes are : the winner's short film broadcasted in Mk2 movie theaters, a private screening for you and your family, and a year's worth of cinema.

Music

Joe Hisaishi

This week we invite you on the discovery of Joe Hisaishi: composer, conductor and Japanese pianist. He is best known for composing musics for most of Hayao Miyazaki's and Takeshi Kitano's animes and has a long collaboration with the famous Ghibli animation studios.

The soundtracks of the films are available on iTunes and Spotify for a nice long trip.

On top of that, we invite you to the concert he gave on the 25th anniversary of Ghibli Studios in Budokan: classical and jazz music combined in a melodic gem that lasts almost two hours.

Nasty: Paris Under The Bombs 

Arthur of the Youtube channel Arthur Vlog Street Art is a street art enthusiast who goes to meet artists opening for him the doors of their universe and their projects of the moment.

The last episode invites you into the world of Nasty, a true graffiti child who drew his first bombs on the subway trains and the walls of empty lands as the medium tradition. The artist is now represented in a gallery: he explains in this mini-documentary his point of view on the question of graffiti's legitimacy immortalized on canvas.

We invite you to browse through the videos of Arthur,  beautiful moments of exchange with artists from very different worlds, all fascinating. Wink for his meeting with the Spanish duo PichiAvo in Poissy and the Romanian artist Saddo in Gennevilliers both for projects that we were lucky enough to carry with them.

Solidarity

For Them (Pour Eux)

For Them is a solidarity movement to which everyone can contribute. You can prepare simple meal baskets with what you have at your disposal for isolated and homeless people in need. These baskets are then distributed by volunteers, who take the necessary hygiene measures in the context of the epidemic. No need to be a cordon bleu, just a little elbow grease and a click on the platform to register and indicate the number of meals you wish to offer.

The service is available in several major cities in France. The distributions are to be followed on their Instagram account.
