STAY ART HOME – Volume 5

Every week throughout the lockdown, Quai 36's team recommends you a selection of cultural activities : movies, art, or music, to cultivate one's mind and curiosity from home.

Cinema & series

200 Korean classic films

The YouTube channel "Korean Classic Film" offers no less than 200 Korean feature films. From the 1930s to the early 2000s, the selection is impressive, with works by Im Kwon-taek, including The Pansori Singer, take a look at the restored version of the classic among the classics Obaltan by Yu Hyun-mok, The Widow by director Park Nam-ok, Deep Blue Night by Bae Chang-ho, The Oldest Son by Lee Doo-yong and Declaration of Idiot by Lee Jang-ho.

Available on Youtube.

Utopia, Dennis Kelly, 2013 - 2014

Created and written by Dennis Kelly, this two seasons British series is as much a UFO as it is a masterpiece in the world of series. It is impossible to stay indifferent to the heavy atmosphere and the nutty storyline sticking to the skin of the twelve episodes. In a few words preserving the mystery: Utopia narrates the escape of a group of people who don't know each other and who only have in common a passion for a graphic novel: The Utopia Experiment. We could add a bit more to make you drool, but no, really, go ahead with your eyes closed (or rather wide open).

Both seasons are available on Canal Plus, and to immerse yourself further in the series' delirious universe, the soundtracks are available on iTunes and YouTube.

Star Wars

The Disney Group recently launched Disney + platform, with a free trial version available for seven days. We thought it was a good opportunity to discover or plunge back into the universe of the famous saga Star Wars. Seven films, seven days free trial, who takes up the challenge?
We thought of Star Wars, but all the Disney, Pixar, Marvel and National Geographic productions are available on the platform, which chose the right moment for its launch.

Everything is to be discovered on Disney +.

Survivor, 2017 andTelema, 2019, Tshege

Tshegue is the result of a collaboration between the bewitching and charismatic priestess Faty and Dakou, the elegant percussionist, master of rhythm. Two sovereign aesthetes whom transport us, to our great pleasure, in an unbridled and unlabelled musical trance. Punk, Afro-Cuban rhythms and electro fuse with Faty's vocal incantations. Have a good trip!
