Chazme
Daniel Kaliński, also known as Chazme, was born in 1980 in Laufon, Switzerland. A painter, muralist, and architect, he currently resides and works in Warsaw, Poland. A graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology, Chazme's artworks resonate with architectural elements of the buildings he intervenes in. Initially painting characters in Warsaw's graffiti scene, he later chose to shift towards formal abstraction with paintings of surreal and intricate architectures.
His Escher-like constructions feature rigid geometry alongside poetic scenarios. Through his artworks, he establishes a connection between classical mythology and contemporary urban experience. The urban labyrinth, emblematic of his imagery, serves as a powerful metaphor for the modern human's urban environment.
In addition to numerous murals, which he often collaborates on with his friend Sepe, he showcases his work in exhibitions throughout Europe. His artwork was awarded the ARTAQ Urban Art Prize in 2011.
